Books/Audiobooks/Magazines

Books, audiobooks and magazines may be checked out for a 3 week period. Overdues are 10¢ per day. You may access your account online to view what you have out, renew your books or place a hold.


DVDs

Rental fees:  $1.00 for 3 nights.
                         50¢ per day late fee charge

Items that are deemed educational in nature are free rentals that will check out for one week.


Music CDs

The library has a collection of musical CDs. We do limit patrons to 5 cds at one time. There is no charge for these cds. Overdues are 10cents per day.


Internet Access and Wi-Fi

The library has four unfiltered computers for use by patrons over 18 and five that are filtered for those under 18. The Internet is available to the public as an informational and educational resource. To use our computers, you must read the library policy and then sign-in each time you use a computer; use is limited to 1/2 hour at a time if others are waiting.

Wi-Fi: library has wireless Internet that is free for patrons to use. You will need to ask for the user name and password to log on to our account.


Interlibrary Loan

www.mel.org  --is the Michigan Electronic Library system. It is the interloan system operated by the state that allows access to almost every library in the state--public, private and universities! If we do not own an item you want, you may request it through www.mel.org . You may request the item yourself (using library computer or your computer at home) or ask that we do it for you.

 

 

 
Preschool Story Hour (ages 3 - 5)

Every Tuesday, from 10:30 - 11:30 am., September through May, the library holds story hour. During this hour, the children will listen to stories, do finger plays, sing songs and make a craft. YOU MUST REGISTER TO ATTEND.


Teen Opinion

This is a program where the teens of our community review and rate the books they have read.  The reviews are located in the young adult section of the library.


Hemlock Page Turners

The group meets on the last Monday of every month (Jan. - Nov.) at 1:00 pm. They discuss a book they have read that has been chosen by the librarian. Copies are available at the library for anyone to checkout. Everyone is welcome to join the group as there is always room for more discussion! Book suggestions are always welcome!

The group does not meet in December.


Friends of the Library

The Friends is a group of volutneers who work to support the library. They have an annual meeting in March to plan their year of events. They hold bake sales, booksales and other fundraisers. They also sponser the library's Summer Reading Programs.  Dues are just $1.00 per year plus the time you are willing to volunteer.

 

Spring and Fall Used Book Sales

The Friends of the Library sponsor two book sales a year--one in May and the other in September. The library will accept donations of books if they are in good, usable condition. We do not accept text books, old encyclopedias, Readers Digest Condensed version books, magazines or VHS.


Fax

Fax service is available for public use.
Cost for sending or receiving is: 
                                                     $2.00 for the first page
                                                     $1.00 for every sheet after


Copier

A black and white copy machine is available for patron use.
        COPIES: $0.10  per side, 8 x 11"
